Early in the morning...

Breakfast...6.55a.m.

I was woken up by XF's text early this morning, couldn't seem to get back to sleep. Decided to enjoy some breakfast from a hawker centre near my place and not to forget, a cuppa teh si :P Was wondering if the hawker centre would be opened so early in the morning. To my surprise, a couple of stalls were all ready to serve breakfast. It wasn't crowded, found a corner to savour my breakfast, simply love the morning air :) Could not decide between carrot cake or bee hoon but chose bee hoon eventually coz wanted to have vegetables. As I was having my breakfast, I was also looking at the auntie who's getting ready to open for business. She has been selling economical rice for a long time, I think she has been around since my school days :P ...But she has aged, I think with rheumatism, she was also walking with a limp. But every day without fail, she will still work from early morning till the night. It must have been tough on her. The lights at her stall was switched on, she was busy laying out the trays of dishes, all ready to serve her first customer. She served a couple of dishes that would go well with porridge early in the morning.

Decided to check out the wet market, have not gone there for quite some time. It was early and there were not many people but the stallholders were all eager to boost sales. Saw Mummy's favourite fishmonger, business was good, they were all conversing in Teochew very loudly. Ha, I didn't think I have much confidence to go forward to buy any fish from him. Went to my favourite yong tau foo and fishball stall to choose a few pieces of tau hu to cook tonight. Walked timidly to the vegetables stall to get spring onions and chilli padi (Don't think I should bargain right? :P). Goodness, could not believe my ears when the total cost came up to 50 cents! So cheap as compared to the supermarket! Silly me :P The auntie at the stall that sells pork must be pretty amused by me. I did not know how much minced meat I should get, just told her a little. She smiled and suggested that I should get two bucks worth of minced pork. Silly silly me :P Ha, but that was an interesting experience, enjoyed the morning! :)
